An Update and an Ask
Well, a couple of asks actually.
I hope everyone had a good Veteran’s Day weekend, and that you had - and took - the opportunity to thank a veteran. If you did, thank YOU for expressing your gratitude.
And in a way, I guess I am asking you to extend that gratitude a bit further.
There are some things that I would very much like to add to this newsletter / blog / online diary. There are lots of things (politics - national and local, sports, books) that I don’t write about a lot and would like too. More personal stuff too. About relationships and family. Trauma and recovery. Personal growth.
And I will confess, it is challenging. It is challenging to find the time and - at times - the motivation.
Writing is a lonely job. I write alone. I press ENTER and send the writing into the world alone. And most of the time, I have no idea how it lands. Do people like it? Is it meaningful? Does it resonate for people? Those are things I don’t always know. I sincerely hope so.
So here are my asks. Think of ‘em as a belated Veteran’s Day gift.
First, please like, comment and share my posts when they land for you. Even if it is an email to me privately (combatsnuggles@gmail.com). When you comment and like, I have some sense of what is resonating - and what might not be. It is helpful. While I write for myself primarily, it is nice to know that others find it meaningful as well. And sharing is caring. If you think something I write is good, please share it with your networks on social media. I would love that.
The second thing you can do is subscribe. While I would like it a lot if you liked and shared, the very best way to show your appreciation is to invest in what you like. Your subscription fees help me create the time and space to do this work. I can do it without support, but it is much, much more challenging.
If you are not currently a subscriber - if you are not actively paying for Combat Snuggles - please consider becoming a paid subscriber. It helps. A LOT.
And now is the perfect time to do it!
Through the end of the year I am offering a 20% discount on yearly subscriptions to the newsletter. That means a year of Combat Snuggles for only $40!!! That works out to 77 cents a week. 77 cents. I honestly can’t think of a better deal.
If you have any questions about your current status, email me at the above address and I can help you out.
And click this link. Buy a subscription. Or gift one.
Thank you. For everything.
See you with a new essay on Wednesday.
Be well, y’all. And keep pounding the rock.
Thank you, Jeff, for sharing so much of yourself and enriching our own lives as you do so!
I hear you on finding the time and motivation to write. Sometimes it can be a struggle. Since I got involved with the community of Tableau users a few years back, I've met several veterans turned data analysts and gotten involved with the Veterans Advocacy Tableau User Group. One of the leaders of the group, Ethan Lang of Playfair Data, has become a very supportive friend. I think you and other veterans who might read this would like his work. You can see it here: https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/ethan.lang. And THANK YOU, Jeff, for your service to this country, for your authenticity, and for your friendship.
