Greetings everyone. I hope you are well.
Another new year is upon us. It became real for me this week when Justin went back to school.
The holidays are a liminal space for a lot of us, I think. There’s enough of the usual obligations of work and school and home for it to seem somewhat normal, and yet the travel, the decorations, the food, and the… Hallmark Channel-ness of it combines to make it feel completely different from any other time of the year. As wonderful as it can be, it is also nice to return to something that feels somewhat normal. It’s kind of like coming home after vacation.
The newsletter starts again as well. There are a few changes I want to tell you about, and an offer I would like to extend.
This year I will be forgoing my weekly updates. While they can be fun to curate and share, I would like to focus on my longer stand-alone essays this year. I will be writing 3-4 essays per month. If history is any indication, each will be around 1500 words, meaning a 6-8 minute read depending on your personal reading speed. This makes them long enough to be impactful, but short enough to be manageable. I have lots planned already, and I can’t wait to work on them and share them with you.
Everyone who follows this newsletter will receive the first essay each month unabridged. However, the subsequent essays each month will be for subscribers only.
Writing is a labor of love for me, and I want to share what I write with people. However, even a labor of love is still labor, and I also feel comfortable asking for you to support this newsletter by subscribing.
This is where the offer comes in.
If you have not yet subscribed to Combat Snuggles, I urge you to do so now. All new subscriptions through the end of March will receive a lifetime discount of 20%. This gift applies to annual subscriptions only. I believe that a subscription is more than worth it even at the regular price, and so this deal is an exceptional bargain. At least it is to me, although I may be biased.
I am looking forward to the ideas and themes and stories that I will share this year. And I can’t wait for you to join me on this journey. I only ask people to spend money once or twice a year. This is one of those times. Your support makes this newsletter possible, and I would love it if you would subscribe.
For those of you who already subscribe, thank you. You mean the world to me.
My next essay is coming soon, so be on the lookout. In the meantime…
Be well, y’all and, no matter what, keep pounding the rock.
I am so excited to read your many essays!
