Yesterday morning there was quite the commotion in Justin's room.
JT is an early riser. It seems like no matter what time he goes to bed, he will find himself awake well before he should be. Most days it is somewhere around 6. It has been as early as 4. He supposed to wake up at 7 and, while 7 is his official wake up time, he is asked to play quietly in his room until 7:45. Theoretically it is so he can ease into his day. Practically it is so we have enough time to prepare for his always dramatic and always energetic emergence from his room.
Justin almost always hits the door of his room ready to go. After all, he has usually been up for a while at that point.
While it used to be a real struggle for him to stay in his room until the specified time (he would come out when he woke up - no matter when that was), he has gotten better as he has gotten older. We will hear him in his room playing, reading, and creating all sorts of interplanetary scenarios, but for the most part he waits until it is time before coming out.
Yesterday we heard a lot of banging and yelling coming from his room around 7:20. We were worried about him waking Elizabeth, who is sick and needs rest. So Barb headed in to see what was wrong, and I went down to get his morning snack and chocolate milk. By the time I got back upstairs, all was quiet.
I saw Barb outside his door and asked what was going on. She explained that there had been a situation involving blocks and books and things falling in a way they weren't supposed to, causing Justin to be very upset. But it was all better now. Excellent, I said, and I entered in to bring him his milk.
"Good morning, buddy," I said. "I have your milk and cheerios. How's it going?"
