Naked

A couple of nights ago after dinner, I asked Justin to get ready for bed. He went to his room to change into his night clothes, and I did a quick scan of the headlines while I waited. Justin can get distracted while changing clothes, so it sometimes takes him a while.

I came across a story about some seaside homeowners in Massachusetts who pooled their money to spend half a million dollars on 14,000 tons of sand that was used to replace and reinforce the beach that has been steadily eroding in front of their homes. The sand lasted 3 days before the sea reclaimed it. Their houses are next.

It is a crazy story, one that is being repeated up and down the East Coast, including here in North Carolina, where homes are literally washing into the sea. The story about the Massachusetts beach had a link to a local news story, which I watched intently. As I watched I heard Justin’s voice behind me.
